How To Destroy Angels...

Trent Reznor's new project with wife Mariqueen Maandig..
EP to be released this Summer

Hey Trent,
Just curious.
What are your views on polygamy?

01 from How To Destroy Angels on Vimeo.

Super Fan Update...

Dear Kele,

I have bookmarked your Blog
(you have a daily, if not hourly, visitor)
I have fanned you on Facebook...
I even follow you on Twitter
(even though I don't ever log on to use it)

If I didnt do any of these stalker musts...
I would of never known that the premier of your new single
"Tenderoni"
would grace the BBC produced airwaves today...

Again, heart explosion.

Yes, a dance beat we have probably heard 1k trillion times over...
BUT your voice would make looping samples of
nails on a chalkboard bearable...

Definitely a guilty pleasure I am not afraid to admit...
Because SUPERFans never stray...

You just made it harder to wait....

♥,

Your Spoggin' Stalkeroni

She love the awesome flo....

I've had a giant groupie crush on Slug for quite some time now....

It's only fair...

THE HOOD INTERNET

Sometimes I feel....

..like my heart is gonna beat right out of my chest from musical excitement..

Just recently I became obsessed with The Very Best...
I truly believe listening to the CD regressed me to my past lives in Africa..
(Im not even joking)...

This morning, I found this remix from The Very Best featuring 2 of my all time favorite bands....
(Thank you PMA)...

Usually, as the saying goes, 3's a crowd..

I Dont Want No Sweetheart...

Just Alison....

She makes these dirty, bluesy, painfully gorgeous masterpieces feel like hot, hot sex...
Alright, Alright, Alright....
Its not just her...
The addition of the other 3 band members make it pure ecstasy...
(Jack White III, I adore you)
((Dean Fertita, You mesmerize me))
and..
(((Jack Lawrence, I would of never known)))

What I'm trying to say is...
The Dead Weather's New Track is Gasoline....
Right after lighting a match....

AND CAN I JUST TELL YOU...
They are, BY FAR, the most amazing band to see live...EVER.
PERIOD.
Every member oozes pure hot talent from their every pore...
Its disgusting...
...disgustingly beautiful

Vegas and The Dead Weather..
My Heaven in Hell...

Oh...and while Im gone....Make me that Stones mix I have been asking for since booking the flight to China.

And while we are on the roller skates tip...
Ive been holding on to this gem for a minute...
Ohhhhh what the mouth can do....
BEATBOXING that is....
(Dirty Dirty Minds)
And in MY dirty dirty mind, this video is actually just that..
Maybe its because Roller Girl brought a whole new meaning to roller skates...
She did for me anyways...
"I never take my skates off..."
.....yeah
Anyways, a dark blurry video with Sweaty Man 'stasche rollerskating around in tank a top and daisy dukes...?
A little creepy I must say....
But the song makes me want to do the same thing....

But would you mind if I took your "I'm Vulnerable" vocals and played them in a continuous loop while wearing a headband and one of my 2trillion off the shoulder shirts???

Thanks

:side note:
The video for the OG version of this jam is way more majestic
than a still of some random girls who look like they just got back from a Miley Cyrus concert.

I'm talking Glitter and Rhinestone lips.
Need I say more?
...However, the version of the song I present to you above is much more my style....

...but it puts my ass in a boombox time machine and shoots me to "back in the day when I used to record jams from KMEL's late night R&B sessions to tape"....
...hovering over the stop button
in hopes to record the least possible amount of 2 cents from the Barry White wannabe DJ...

.Musical Soul Mates.

Some say if you hang out with someone long enough, you start to resemble each other....
...I just learn their musical tastes before they even know what hit them
Its my favorite thing to do....

Hey look! There's even a "Memory Tapes" Remix....

....This is just too damn easy (totally winning right now)

...Alright, so maybe our jew noses show a slight resemblance

He says this is what my brain looks like....

You're wrong....

Billboard.com has a Monday ritual they call MashUps Monday.
Every Monday, they post a new video of an artist acoustically performing a song in a completely different genre than their own.

I'm usually VERY disappointed and slightly confused.
The last time I checked...a Mashup wasn't a cover and a cover wasn't a mashup...
But what the hell do I know???
....So I went to a reliable source for an answer...
Yeah, I UrbanDitionaried it.

They seem to agree:

1. Mash Up
v. To take elements of two or more pre-existing pieces of music and combine them to make a new song.
n. A song comprised of elements of two or more pre-existing pieces of music.

Mmhmmm, that's what I thought.

OH and while Im at it..

1. Alligator Tears
n. Tears that are fake, or are meant to deceive

Anyways, like I said, I'm usually HIGHLY disappointed with the performance. Most times I'm cringing while frantically hitting the stop button within the first 30 seconds.
When I saw that Florence (and the Machine) was this weeks Mashupcoverextravaganza of a 2004 R&B song, I was a little hesitant...
Well, I should of known better....

Florence kills it.....with angelic sound waves...
Her voice is powerful, effortless and amazingly beautiful...and it only gets better...

Not only that, but she is F'n adorable in her interview at the end....
I love how an artist embraces different genres.
To me, that is what being a real, talented artist is all about.
I want to be her friend.

While I'm at it...I want to be Imogean's friend too.
And when we talk on the phone or face to face, I will only allow them to speak in song.

This song is amazing BTW.

A Beautiful Disaster....

A gorgeous mess of synths and echos and drum machines and spacey mishaps found me this morning.....
I put my headphones on to get the full effect and to test out some new headphone fittings...
(I am getting some work did)

THEN...The ne plus ultra (its the word of the day. Look it up.) emerges...
...2:33....
Heaven in space with Thom Yorke on the mic

......I almost forgot where I was....

"There's a lot of gay on your page...." -RC

The song I present to you below already has 17 remixes.
Yeah, 17.
As if the original wasn't good enough...
"This song is rad! Lets make it over seeveeenteeeeeen tiiiiiiimes."
Fine with me.

Personally, I would take it as a compliment..
At least I would know that 17 people have heard the original and like it just enough to want to listen to it over and over and over again to remix it to their liking...
I would, however, hope quality annihilates quantity.....

Today, I am only on remix #1........yes, 1 out of 17.
(* see previous post "repeat offender". My loved ones have yet to lock me in a hotel conference room with Candy Finnigan)

So far (which obviously is not very far at all), on this dreary Monday,
this sad song mixed and remixed with it's colorful confetti filled videos helped me muster up a side smile.

but, I can try.....

...a pinch of an MJ bassline sprinkled here and there might do the trick....

Marry Me....

If I could legally marry music, I would be a polygamist.

The moment I rolled out of the womb, I have had a love affair with all different genres.
So this in no way covers all the albums my heart beats for.
I just don't have the salary to purchase that many rings.

But here...
Meet my current wives, in no particular order.
We don't want them gettin jealous now...
Its already a handful trying to satisfy their play counts equally...

Loggin' = Lunch Time Bloggin'

Another reason I like Fridays??
You can stay up as late as you want 'cause you aint got shit to do tomorrow!

One reason I like living in LA??
Shows. Cheap.

We are headed to The Echo tonight to see Spirit Animal and The Gray Kid. I know like 2 songs....which means I know nothing about their music and have absolutely no idea what to expect. But one thing about me? I will go to any show. ANY show.
EX. I wanted to hit up Megadeath at the Palladium a couple weeks ago, but.....SOLD OUT.

I found them perusing The Echo's website. Saw it was on a Friday for 8 bucks. Did a little youtubin' and am now ready to add another memory filled night to my eye camera SD card (aka the brain)......and I'm also bringing my iFlip. (Thanks Santa aka Mom) ...

Anywho, this is what I found. A dorky white guy in Dockers. Rad.

I really like this song....Cute, sweet, and innocent....Starting to see a theme here?
(Don't get it twisted though, I have many a theme!)
The lyrics during the bridge are my fav.....
Plus, it fits perfectly in the soundtrack to my life at the moment....

This next video is what I have to go off of if I want any kind of idea what tonight might be like....
(Again, dorky white guy in dockers....with a belt annnnnd a shirt similar to a crop top might I add)

And just as I went deeper into the search, so will you:

http://www.spiritanimal.us/

http://www.graykid.com/

(Its got free music. Always a seller....)

And now I must get back to the 9-5 grind. I'm sure I'll be bloggin' about the show at some point this weekend....cause......I ain't got shit to do!!!

PS. I went and bought Justin Biebers new CD at Amoeba.
Here's how it went...

Cashier Girl: *Stare*
Me: *Stare*
Cashier Girl: *Stare*
Me: *Stare*

I should of twirled for her.....

Anallegra...

Its Friday. The eve of my favorite day of the entire week. Actually, Friday is definitely in the running to becoming "Allegra's Next Top Day". Minus the looming reality of being at work, I really like Friday's. They just aren't as hectic as any other weekday. People are more pleasant and the vibe is just....chill.
Another plus for Contestant Friday and what definitely makes it the next runner up to Saturday is the ritual.
I'm a pretttttty anal human being. If I add any kind of activity to my already planned out days, it becomes a ritual after 1 successful try. Now, if that ritual is in anyway broken from that day forward, it gives me a slight case of anxiety. And by slight I mean.....sweaty, irritable Allegra. Ok, I'm not THAAAAAT bad. Really........I'm not (just don't ask the opinions of others I know)
What it boils down to is, I like routines.

Alright, back to my contestant. Friday is the matutinal (a word of the day, which is just another one of my many rituals) beach run with my Ryora the Explorah. I love it. He does too, but not until about 20 minutes after the rude awaking of the 4:15 alarm. I try to keep the rudeness of waking up at the butt crack of dawn as peaceful and calm as possible. Which is why I have my phone alarm set to The XX-Shelter. You really cant get any more calm and serene then that.

And finally...The Ritual: Up at 4:15 am, in car by 4:30, at beach by 5, 30 min run by crashing waves, breath in some fresh air, talk about the tides, push our panting sweaty selves to run up the last giant hill or the flight of stairs, high five!!!!, stare, grab a coffee at Peet's, back home for some eggs, etc. etc......
It's absolutely perfect and sets the weekend off just right.
Crazy? Maybe. But, its my routine......It's just how I do....

Its Cougar Time....

Yeah, I'm pretty damn close to 30, so Cougar looks like the title I earn by having a slight infatuation with Justin Bieber. Is that wrong?......I don't care. Call me Mrs. Robinson.
There's something about the "lil' lesbian" look-a-like that puts a smile on my face. He's freakin adorable and he taught himself the drums at age 5. I mean come on. Plus, when I'm 38, he'll be 26. Aaliyah knew that age ain't nothing but a number.

But seriously, in a world where Tweens are force-fed sex by the spoonfuls, this kid is like a breath of fresh air. I like to consider him the Justin Timberlake/Michael Jackson replacement of the 2kTens. His lyrics are sweet and innocent. Sweet and innocent. Tell me the last time those words have been used to describe any pop artist....Yeah, hard to think back, isn't it???....Ok, The Beatles...a looong looong time ago...In my opinion (and you can disagree with me at anytime. I wont be mad) his songs are just futuristic versions of early Beatles jams....Catchy, sweet, and instant hits.

SO, yes, I HAVE listened to both of his CDS if you really want to know. And will probably purchase them for my collection. I love music and will give anything a try. SOOOO, as you sit and laugh at my musical explorations, I will tell you this.....I always wake up in the morning with a random song in my head. Yesterday it was "Baby" and I smiled to myself cause that is DAMN cute song. I was born happy, damn it, and if I can wake up with a smile on my face, you totally win in my world (2.0).

Now, the music world does suck you up and spit you out pretty ferociously. I'm sure his sweet little heart o' gold will be tainted at some point....
It doesn't help that his mentor is a notorious sex addict, but ya know....its good while it lasts...

OH.....And this Saturday??? I'm breaking out my Cougar gear and sitting in front of a cracked MacBook Pro to watch JB's performance on SNL. The best part of all of this is??... I'll be in the company of the "Sugar in the Raw" to my "Grande Americano"...Cause he's cool like that and embraces (ok, tolerates) my cheese.

This cougar is out.....

PS....This song makes me want to twirl around, literally twirl.....

Something I learned about myself today....

....I like the sound of pixels....

You know what I'm ready for?

♥ Summer Shows ♥
with Summer Love, Summer Sun, Summer Fun
...and Summer Beer(s)....
I am a hippie at ♥

"Fucking rainbows after it rains".....

Alright, WTF???? I seriously have no words for this. None.
"Pure motherfucking magic, Right? This shit'll blow your fucking mind"
(I stole that from the song, cause seriously, I got nothing)

But it does remind me of this:

Is this real life?

Saved by the Hook...

I stumble across songs when I'm doing my daily Youtube research. Sometimes old and sometimes new. I was doing my "Draking" and came across this song. To put it bluntly, this song sucks ass. BUT, I couldn't stop listening to it while pushing my weights this morning. They "hooked" me. Literally.

The STRATEGY.

Begin the song with:

8 Bars of a bad ass beat we are all familiar with
8 Bars of Drake-tuned vocals and lyrics to make a pretty fly hook.....

This will "hook" the listener to the point where they don't even care what is coming up next.

And what came up next?....16+ bars of disaster. Page and his lyrics that obviously my 12 year old brother could write (minus the "mix cocaine powder with the pro tools") slap your ass in the face. Seriously, if I didn't like the hook so much and they didn't strategically plan to put it BEFORE the verbal Page vomit, I would of moved on. Hearing these lyrics first would of made me click quickly on ANYTHING in the right hand video sidebar. Even Yanni.

"Clean in this bitch I'm feelin' myself goddamn a nigga rich
And every time I touch it guaranteed to be hit"

Yeah. What you mean, Page, is that anything Drake touches is a hit. Obviously.

Still, as I sit here and talk shit, that song is in my iPod. So yeah, hooked.

Props to the producer on that one.

.Repeat Offender.

So...I am music obsessed. I find a song, or an album in this case, and play it out until it has more plays than a Los Angeles radio station. If there was an A&E series of "Repeat" offenders, I would take up the entire hour. I have it on my laptop for my morning dance ritual, in my car for the "prepare for hell" drive, on my iPod to motivate the 5 am workouts, ripped at work to pacify my day, and I will most likely throw a couple songs on one of my mixed CDs floating around my bubble.

With that being said, the album currently dissipating into my musical air is:
Top Ranking: A Diplo Dub.

I'm not gonna lie, I was skeptical of Santogold at first. Took me a while to appreciate her the way I do. But then one day, I just couldn't get enough. Her album still makes its rounds in my world.

In this case, I give my props to Edouble , who on a side note, always makes the best mix tapes (CDS if you want to get all futuristic with it). Her and I have been musical BFFs from day one and not because we met working at Sam Goody nearly 10 years ago.

She has snuck a few of the songs on my mix tapes and when I decided to go deeper into the "search", I discovered the album. Now if you know me, you know once I am obsessed, I am beyond saving until that song or album is in my hands to be at my beckon call 24 hours a day 7 days a week. So, I hiked my ass (less then a 1/2 mile) to the heaven of all music lovers, Amoeba, and purchased this diamond in the ruff. And now, I'm stuck in "repeat all" mode.

The obsession started off with Santogold – "Get It Up" (Radioclit Mix feat. M.I.A. and Gorilla Zoe) ((and just let me add, my mom LOVED this song the first time she heard it. Its was the "Native American" vibe. Her words exactly, *See previous blog. My mom is RAD)), then Trouble Andrew – "Run - Hide" (who I am pretty sure I will be bloggin' about soon), Santogold – "I'm A Lady" (Diplo Mix feat. Amanda Blank), and even Aretha Franklin – "Save Me".....And that is only the beginning of 35 tracks of amazingness....Oldies, dub, The Smiths, with a little touch of Santogold.....Its a non-stop party in my ear drums, wherever I go.....

So, obsessed I am....no big surprise. "Cuz the 808 kick drum makes the girlies get dumb....."

Hey, at least its a healthy obsession......

.This Modern Excitement.

June 21st 2k10. It feels like waiting for Christmas when you're little. SOOO FAAAR AWAAAAY.

What is this date that I cannot hide my excitement for? Well, Mom and Ryangle, it is the release date of Bloc Party's lead singer Kele Okereke's solo album, The Boxer.

Since I just started this blog, my musical turn ons are obviously unclear. So, let me start it off by saying, Bloc Party holds a special place in this kick drum heart. I first heard them in an old friends car and although a little intoxicated, amazingly I couldn't get them out of my head the next day. I have been dangerously in love ever since. All 3 albums are in arms reach of wherever I may be. Home, Work, Gym...(my daily bubble). I'm pretty sure if CDs could wear down from too much play, Silent Alarm would dissipate into thin air. I have been to all 3 shows in LaLa land, as close to the front as I can be, sweaty from jumping in the mosh pit, and screaming every word at the top of my lungs. I have also forced my closest roll dogs to become fans. Actually, I didn't have to force anything, send them a couple songs and they are hooked. Anyways, enough about me. All 3 albums, not one the same as the other, are amazing. Which is why Kele can do NO wrong in my eyes or my ears (to be precise). Even his song with Tiesto is on my repeating playlist. Yes, Tiesto. I said it out loud, I admitted it, its out there. Tip of the iceberg, just the tip.

My draw to him? His voice is like warm honey in my ears and his lyrics completely melt my soul..And their (Bloc Party) songs, whether simple or intricate, drip of pure raw talent.....Yes, as I said, I am dangerously in love. Call me a superfan. I am ok with that.....

So the countdown is on.....I sit and and I wait with superfan anticipation...(which means checking his blog everyday AND searching his name in Google.........everyday)

I aint too proud....

To beg...or to admit I am jamming out to TLC right now. Timeless, I say, timeless. 3 totally different artists, all amazing in their own talent, joined together to create a group that is more in sync than Siamese twins.

I have always had a soft spot for T-Boz. Gorgeous and talented...thats all Im sayin. My favorite "I'm a T-Boz fan" story is the memory I have of my mom going to get her hair did and specifying she wanted the T-Boz side bangs.

I guess that means my mom was a bigger fan then I was (she also looks cuter in shorter hair then I do).

Have I mentioned my mom is RAD??
Well, she is...and now you know.

Anyways.....I ain't no silly hoe and don't want no scrubs. So, imma Creep back to my 9-5 tasks, and Kick My Game.

A to tha A

To put a face to the name...

The beginning....

Alright, so.......I have been given a task and since this task was given to me by someone who I truly adore and not myself, I have to follow through. The task is....are you ready??.... To start blogging. Not Spoggin' (a word in the Allegra dictionary for Blog Spying), which I do quite well thank you, but actually blogging myself. Yeahhhhh...Not too sure how I feel about this, but I guess I wont know until I try. Well, actually, I DID try in October of 2009 (as you can see)....annnnnd failed. The difference now is a flame has been lit under my ass by the one AND only person who will be reading this. He suggested I start a music blog...and that I will. Im sure there will be other random crap I throw in here for my own entertainment, but I will try to stick to the music. Maybe it might do me well in the future....

At least in the future I can say I tried....

Oh and currently I am listening to John Mayer on LaLa. Laugh if you want...This is only the tip of my musical taste iceberg...plus, I didnt pay for the album. Which makes Lala.com great for those albums you just want to hear once....And with this particular album, I will do just that....

....and, scene
